Project: The History of Canada's RCMP

My project is on the history of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I am from Southern Alberta, which played an important role in the RCMP's history. I hope you enjoy my video and learn something new.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

I learned what an important role the RCMP has had and continues to play in keeping Canadians safe. I learned the exciting origins of the RCMP and the history of Women in the RCMP. Finally, I learned what the RCMP do for Canada today.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I learned about an extraordinary woman named Dr. Frances McGill who did very important work for the RCMP even before women were allowed to join. I learned about how my hometown was involved in the history of the RCMP. I also learned about a really gross sounding drink called Bug Juice. Yuck.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

Our modern lives are safer because of the RCMP.
