Project: The Voluntary Aid Detachment

I created this project to highlight the importance of the voluntary aid detachemeng and their role in ww1. Also to honour important V.A.Ds such as Frances Cluett.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

One interesting thing about the voluntary aid detachment is during ww1 they had many advancements in medicine. They were able to use x-rays in battle field conditions. They also were able to perform blood transfusions and amputations.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned the great significance of the voluntary aid detachment. Also their uncommonly known impact on people in WW1. I strongly feel these lessons should be shared amongst Canadians.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

My life today more specifically as a women is much more simple. During the first world war women were denied at first to be V.A.DS. Only after the war were they able to vote.
