Nadia Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Fair address: Prince Edward Island Provincial Fair

Project: Meine Oma - My Grandmother

Nadia Carr profiled her grandmother's immigration to Canada post WWII.

What was the most interesting thing you learned about your topic?

The most interesting thing that I learned about my Oma was how open she was to change and how brave she was to leave her home country.

What important lessons have you learned that you want to share with other Canadians?

I have learned that no matter what your gender, religion or nationality you can do anything as long as you work hard and have courage.

How would you compare your life today to the lives of those studied in your project?

I have a much different life than my Oma. When my Oma was little, she had to steal food from farmer's fields at night just to eat and lived in barracks where she had to share a bed with her brother and sister. I also share a room with my sister but it is by choice and we have lots to eat.
